The transmission advantages of helical gears
Significant improvement in transmission stability
When the helical gear meshes, the contact line gradually increases from zero to the maximum value, and then shortens to disengagement. The load loading/unloading process is smooth, effectively reducing impact and vibration. Its coincidence degree (number of teeth meshing simultaneously) is 30% -50% higher than that of spur gears, further enhancing smoothness.
Capacity and efficiency optimization
Load bearing capacity: The contact area of the helical gear teeth is larger, the stress distribution is more uniform, and it can withstand higher loads. For example, in high-speed heavy-duty scenarios such as car transmissions, the fatigue life of helical gears is 2-3 times longer than that of spur gears.
Transmission efficiency: The transmission efficiency of helical gears can reach 98% -99%, slightly lower than that of spur gears (99% -99.5%), but much higher than that of worm gears (40% -90%). The efficiency loss mainly comes from friction caused by axial force.
Outstanding noise control effect
The gradual load characteristics of helical gears make their operating noise 5-10 decibels lower than that of spur gears, especially at high speeds (>3000 rpm) where the advantage is more pronounced. For example, when the elevator traction machine adopts helical gears, the operating noise can be controlled below 55 decibels.
